The straight answer
What's the best paint protection for a new car?
For a new car in Perth, the honest answer is a stack, scoped to how the car will live: paint protection film on the impact zones - bonnet, bumper, mirrors - because film is the only thing that physically stops stone chips, and ceramic coating over the whole car for UV, bore water and easy washing. New paint is the perfect base for both: no correction bill, no locked-in swirls, maximum warranty life. The worst option is waiting.
Day one is the cheapest day to protect a car.
Not a sales line - arithmetic. Every week unprotected, Perth roads and wash bays take something you can't get back.
New paint never gets better
Factory paint straight off the truck is the best surface your car will ever have. Protection applied now seals that state in - applied later, it seals in whatever's happened since.
The first chip doesn't wait
Freeway gravel doesn't care that the car is three weeks old. One deep chip on an unprotected bonnet and you're already in touch-up territory - on a car you haven't finished the paperwork on.
Later means paying twice
Protect a used surface and you pay for correction first - machine hours to undo wash marks before anything goes on. Protect on day one and that line item simply never exists.
Hands-free delivery
Hasn't been delivered yet? Even better.
We work with dealerships across Perth every week. Tell us where the car is landing, and the day it's ready we collect it, protect it in our bays, and hand it back to you finished - so the first time you drive your new car, it's already protected.

Before you sign
Should you buy the dealership's paint protection?
The finance office will offer 'paint protection' with the floor mats and window tint. Some of it is real product; some of it is a sealant with a very good margin. You don't need to fight about it - you just need to ask the right questions.
| Ask this | Dealer package | Specialist workshop |
|---|---|---|
| What exactly is the product? | Often unnamed - "our paint protection package". Ask for the product name and data sheet. | Named film and coating systems, spec sheets on the quote. |
| Who applies it, and where? | Typically the pre-delivery bay, by whoever is rostered on, between fifty other jobs. | Dedicated installers in dust-managed bays - surface work is the whole trade. |
| Does it stop stone chips? | No coating does - and most dealer packages are coatings or sealants. | Film physically absorbs impact; we'll tell you straight which panels earn it. |
| What does the warranty actually cover? | Read the exclusions - many cover 'gloss loss', not the damage you actually care about. | Manufacturer-registered film and coating warranties, in writing, explained before you pay. |
| Is the price negotiable? | Almost always - it's one of the highest-margin lines in the building. Negotiate it out and spend it on protection you chose. | Itemised quote after the car is scoped. The number is the number. |
None of this makes the dealer the villain - plenty are upfront, and some packages are decent products. It just means paint protection is a considered purchase, not a checkbox in a finance office. Take the car price win; choose the protection separately.

FAQ
New-car protection, asked straight.
Is dealer paint protection worth it? +
Sometimes - but you can't know from the brochure. Ask three things: the actual product name (so you can look it up), who applies it and where, and what the warranty excludes. Many dealer packages are spray sealants applied in a pre-delivery bay, priced like a professional ceramic installation. If the answers are vague, the honest move is to negotiate the package off the invoice and put the same money into protection you chose, from a shop whose whole trade is surfaces. If the answers are solid - genuinely, good for them, and you've lost nothing by asking.
Do new cars even need paint protection? Isn't factory clear coat enough? +
Factory clear coat is a UV shield and a gloss layer, not armour - it's soft enough that a brush wash marks it and thin enough that a stone chip goes straight through. Perth adds its own pressures: relentless UV, bore-water sprinklers that etch rings into paint, and freeway gravel. A new car doesn't need protection to survive; it needs protection to still look new when you sell it, and resale is where the money comes back.
Ceramic coating or PPF for a new car - which one? +
Different jobs, and on a new car the case for each is at its strongest. Film physically stops stone chips - it belongs on the impact zones: bonnet, bumper, guards, mirrors. Ceramic changes how the whole car ages: UV, bore water, bird droppings and wash time. The stack most new-car owners land on is film on the front, coating over everything - but the honest scope depends on the car, the roads it'll see and how long you're keeping it. That's a ten-minute conversation, not a package tier.
When should protection be applied - and is it ever too late? +
The best time is before the car has driven anywhere - ideally straight from the dealership to our bays, which is exactly what the hands-free service is for. New paint needs no correction, so you're paying only for protection, not repair. It's never too late in the sense that a year-old car still benefits enormously - but by then the surface usually needs machine work first, and anything already locked into the paint is there to stay. Day one is simply the only day the job is at its cheapest and the result at its best.
How does the dealership pick-up actually work? +
Once you've bought the car, you tell the dealer Vinyl Wrapz is collecting it and give us the delivery contact - we handle the rest. We deal with dealerships across Perth every week, so this is routine on both sides. The car comes straight to Osborne Park, gets protected on factory-fresh paint, and you collect it finished - or we return it to the dealership or your home. For FIFO and regional buyers the timing works beautifully: the work happens while you're away, and the finished car is waiting when you're back.
Will aftermarket protection void my new-car warranty? +
No. In Australia a manufacturer's warranty can't be voided simply because you had a third party apply paint protection - a dealer also can't make your warranty conditional on buying their own package. What matters is that the work is done properly by a professional shop, which is exactly the standard our film and coating manufacturers hold us to for their own registered warranties. You end up with more written coverage, not less: factory warranty plus the protection product's warranty plus our workmanship guarantee.
What does new-car protection cost? +
The guide tiers are on this page, and new cars sit at the friendly end of every range because the prep is minimal - no correction hours, no repair surprises. The final number depends on the car's size and panel complexity and the coverage you choose, so we confirm it with a fixed, itemised quote in writing. One honest warning about budget maths: a single resprayed bumper from an unprotected stone-chip cluster can cost more than the film that would have prevented it.
