Machine-polishing a dark bonnet in the Vinyl Wrapz workshop

The straight answer

Car Detailing Perth

We're not a detailing shop - and we'd rather tell you on the first line than after you've driven across Perth. If you want a wash, an interior clean or a regular detail, a detailer is the right call. If what you actually want is paint that looks new and stays that way, that's our entire trade.

  • Osborne Park workshop
  • Paint-inspection lighting
  • Surface specialists since 2015

Two different searches

Half of Perth searches 'car detailing' wanting two different things.

One half wants the car cleaned - properly washed, interior reset, maybe a machine shine before a sale. The other half wants tired paint fixed and protected for years. Those are different trades. We only do the second one, and we do it all day.

What we don't do

  • Maintenance washes and regular detailing packages
  • Interior-only details, carpets, odour removal
  • Engine bays, headliners, pre-sale spruce-ups
  • Cut-price 'full detail' specials

A good maintenance detailer does these better and cheaper than a protection workshop ever will.

What we actually do

  • Machine paint correction - as the first stage of every protection job
  • Ceramic coating, cured in controlled bays
  • Paint protection film for stone chips and road rash
  • Colour change and commercial wraps

One obsession: the condition and protection of your paint, measured under inspection lighting.

The honest router

What are you actually trying to fix?

Match the symptom, get the straight recommendation - including the ones that aren't us.

The problem The honest fix Who to call
Swirl marks and dull paint you can see in sunlight Machine paint correction, then protection over the corrected surface so it doesn't come straight back Ceramic coating
You want gloss that lasts years and a car that washes clean in minutes Ceramic coating over decontaminated, corrected paint Ceramic coating
Stone chips slowly eating the bonnet and bumper Paint protection film on the impact zones - the only thing that physically stops chips Paint protection film
You're over the colour, or the paint is sound but tired-looking A colour change wrap over healthy paint - new look, fully reversible Colour change wraps
Clear coat is faded, chalky or peeling A respray. Film and coatings bond to clear coat - nothing we apply can rescue failed paint A paint shop
The car just needs a proper wash, interior reset or regular upkeep A maintenance detailer on a schedule - cheaper, faster and exactly their trade A detailing shop

If you're not sure which row is yours, send photos or drive in - the verdict under inspection lighting is free and takes minutes.

Why a wrap shop

We prep paint for a living - that's why we can talk straight.

Correction is stage one of our day job

Every wrap, film and coating in this building goes over paint we've decontaminated and corrected first. The machines, lighting and standards most shops rent out as 'detailing' are our daily prep work. see the full-stack story β†’

We say no for a living

Failed paint gets sent to a paint shop. Wash-and-vac work gets sent to a detailer. Saying no to the wrong job is why the right jobs leave here with a warranty we can stand behind.

Verdicts under lights, not over the phone

Paint condition can't be diagnosed from a text message. Under inspection lighting we'll show you exactly what your clear coat needs - even when the answer is 'nothing we sell'.

Four terms that make any quote comparable.

Whoever you end up calling - detailer, paint shop or us - these four terms are how you tell the professionals from the merchants.

Swirl marks

Webs of circular micro-scratches in the clear coat - the signature of brush washes and dirty mitts. They scatter light, which is why paint looks dull.

Clay & decon

A clay bar and chemical decontamination lift the bonded grime washing can't - fallout, sap, overspray - so machines work on genuinely clean paint.

Cut vs polish

Cutting levels the clear coat with abrasives to remove defects; polishing refines the surface back to gloss. Correction is both, in order.

Clear coat is finite

Every cut removes a little clear coat, and it doesn't grow back. Honest correction removes the least material that gets the result - use this line to vet any shop, including us.

FAQ

Straight answers about detailing and us.

Do you offer car detailing in Perth? +

Not as a standalone service, no. Vinyl Wrapz is a paint protection and wrap workshop - the washing, decontamination and machine correction we do happens as the preparation stage of ceramic coating, paint protection film and wrap jobs. If you're after a maintenance wash, an interior detail or a regular detailing package, a dedicated detailer is genuinely the better call: it's their trade, their pricing and their schedule. We'd rather tell you that up front than waste your drive to Osborne Park.

Can I book just a wash or an interior clean? +

No - we don't take wash-and-vac or interior-only work at all. It's not that the work is beneath anyone; it's that a shop set up for film and coatings does it slower and dearer than a proper maintenance detailer, and you'd be paying protection-workshop overheads for a service someone else does better. Find a local detailer you trust for upkeep, and come to us when the conversation is about correcting or protecting the paint itself.

Do you do paint correction? +

Yes - machine correction is stage one of nearly every job in this building, because coatings and film lock in whatever surface sits underneath them. We scope it under inspection lighting and quote it as part of a protection job: correct, then coat or film, so the finish you paid to fix is sealed against coming back. What we don't sell is correction as a cosmetic one-off with nothing over it - paying for machine work and then leaving the paint bare to collect the same swirls again is money we're not comfortable taking.

My paint is faded and chalky - can you fix it? +

If the clear coat has genuinely failed - faded, chalky, peeling - the only proper fix is a respray, and your first call should be a paint shop, not us. Everything we apply bonds to your clear coat, so it's only ever as solid as the paint underneath; no film or coating carries a warranty over failed paint, and we won't take your money for something that won't last. Once the panel is repainted and cured, we'll happily protect it so it never gets to that state again.

What's the difference between detailing and paint correction? +

Detailing is an umbrella word - anything from a $60 wash to a multi-day machine job can be sold under it, which is exactly why quotes are so hard to compare. Paint correction is specific: levelling the clear coat with measured machine stages so swirls, etching and oxidation are genuinely removed rather than glossed over or hidden under fillers. A maintenance detail keeps a car clean; correction changes the condition of the paint itself. Knowing which one you're being quoted for is most of the battle.

Is ceramic coating a detailing service? +

It's sold by plenty of detailers, but it's better understood as paint protection - and the coating itself is the smaller half of the job. What separates a coating that performs for years from one that fails early is everything before the bottle opens: decontamination, machine correction and a controlled, dust-managed bay for curing. That preparation is our daily trade. If you're weighing up a coating, judge shops on their prep process, not their brand posters.

Who should I call for a regular detail in Perth? +

We deliberately don't run a referral list - but here's how to vet any detailer in one conversation. Ask how they wash (two-bucket or touchless, never brushes), whether they clay and decontaminate before any machine work, and how they scope correction - the good ones talk in stages and inspect the paint before quoting a number. Anyone who quotes a 'full correction' sight unseen over the phone is guessing with your clear coat. The four terms in our glossary above will carry you through that conversation.
